The Last Step is a 'roguelike' where you have to lead a group of three heroes who you have to help survive in a hostile and random world. There's nothing to save here. The world has already been conquered by demons. Your only possibility is to survive.
The gameplay in The Last Step is much simpler than how it may appear at first glance. From the global view of the map, you can move your group of adventurers with just a tap of the screen. When you reach a key element of the land, like a tree, tomb, or coffin, you can interact with it to get different types of resources. And if you come close to an enemy, which you will, you'll start a combat.
In The Last Step, the combats are turn-based. Firstly, you'll choose the attacks and the skills your heroes will use, and then it will be your enemy's turn. Obviously, the goal for each side is to cause the most damage possible. It's important to take into account that if your characters die, the game will be over and you'll have to start all over from the beginning. After all, it is a 'roguelike.'
In addition to exploring and looking for problems, from the map view you can do many more things. You can equip your heroes with better weapons and armor, you can feed them (they'll die from hunger if you don't), or you can rest.
The Last Step is an excellent survival 'roguelike' that has a similar look to the great Darkest Dungeon, but offers a very different gameplay. In short, it's an original and fun game that's worth trying out.
